Garden Route Centre

The Century Charity Run

The Triumph Sports car Club (Garden Route) will be organising a novel, fund raising, event for owners of old cars and motorcycles on Sunday 14 October 2018.

Our event , sponsored by Frost Brothers Classic cars, will be called the Century Charity Run and will be open to all cars and motorcycles 25 years and older, where the combined age of the car and driver/rider must equal or exceed a Century (100 years). Invitations will go to all of the Garden Route motoring clubs, and will be advertised in the local press, but entry is not restricted to the motoring clubs. All participating cars must be licensed and roadworthy. There will be a donation of R100 required with each entry to cover administration, emergency rescue/backup, prizes and printing. The number of participants will be limited to 100 and the participants will be required to travel 100 km to the end point where an optional, affordable, lunch will be available and where the prize giving will be held. There will be a prizes for :

  1. Oldest car completing the event
  2. Highest combined age of driver and car
  3. Greatest age difference where the driver is younger than the car:
  4. Highest combination where the driver and car are the same age

The run will commence at Sedgefield from the parking opposite the Engen 1 Stop on the N2. with registration commencing from 09:00 and first cars away at 10:30.  There will be ample parking at the start point in Sedgefield, opposite the Engen filing station, with coffee, breakfast, snacks and toilets available. The route will avoid the N2 as far as possible and Route sheets will be provided at the start with the run ending at Die Dekke restaurant in Groot Brak River.

Certificates will be issued at the end venue to all participants in the following categories:

Platinum certificate : 175-199

Gold certificate : 150-174 years

Silver Certificate : 130-149 years

Bronze Certificate : 100-129 years

 At the end venue, where a buffet lunch will be available at a cost of R120 per head, a raffle will be held for a range of desirable prizes, many of which have been donated, with the funds raised, as well as any funds remaining from the entry fees, donated to worthy charities in Sedgefield excluding Hospice which is a major beneficiary of the Knysna Motor Show. The organisers will not profit from this event.
